Locally Grown & gathered
I use locally grown flowers and foliage whenever possible.
Not only is this better for our planet, but it anchors your arrangement to both the immediate present and the cyclical rhythms of nature.

My floral designs always start with a walk outside to see what nature has to offer. Although my design business has expanded to include the impressive bounty of other local growers, this first step always sets the tone.

In the off-season, or when necessity dictates, I may buy flowers from premium national flower markets, but there will always be local elements in your arrangement. In the winter that may mean locally harvested penstemon seed heads, cedar berries, and magnolia paired with imported white roses, but much of the year everything is locally grown-- including all the flowers I've used in the arrangements you see on this website.
the wonder of now

Some people think that the ephemeral nature of flowers makes them the ultimate luxury, but fresh-cut flowers are also a call to the present moment.

Locally-grown flowers especially anchor our lived moments to a larger Here & Now in a way that is one part seasonal, cyclical, and timeless-- and another part singular and fleeting, never to be seen again.

Flowers embody the wonder and beauty of Nature's designs. They contain a level of richness and detail that no manufactured product can.
